The Robert and Shirley Mangum Memorial Scholarship is a $2,000 award to encourage collegiate studies in the fields of ornamental horticulture, floriculture, greenhouse growing, interior landscaping and related studies. The Scholarship, administered by the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, is given to an undergraduate or graduate student who is a resident of the state of Maryland, and who is enrolled or plans to attend any accredited two-year or four-year educational institution located within the United States. The Scholarship is designed to assist students who have demonstrated character, scholarship & talent and preference is given to those who are interested in pursuing an education and eventual career in the Maryland horticultural industry.
The Scholarship honors the contribution of Robert T. Mangum, a lifelong Montgomery County, MD resident, Member and Director of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, respected Montgomery County business owner, and pioneer in the national ornamental horticultural & interior landscape contracting industry. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2014. The recipient will be notified in May.
